The Event Log is in PH the database (I think). There is a ph_trimeventlog to reduce the size if the DB is getting large. The Insteon Raw Log is stored in the path/file defined in the Controller Setup.

Can't find it, trying to see if my Motion Sensor sent the Low Battery alert. I did not get my text message!

The Event Log is part of the DB therefore Word will not work. The best way to monitor the Event Log for an instance is to use an SQL search of the event or use “Echo Raw Log to File” in Insteon Explorer.

Check the link for Group 3 from the motion sensor to the PH PLM. The Group 1 link allows the motion sensor so send motion commands but you also need a Group 3 link for the low battery message. There have been some posts on the Smarthome forum about missing low battery messages. Don't think anyone has posted a resolution.

That is kind of what I was thinking was happening. Now what happens if I use Echo Raw Log to File? Will I end up with one huge file or will that log file get closed when I exit PowerHome?

Ok so I you are saying it may not be me! I just want to make sure I have my Trigger set up right:
Trigger Type: Insteon Group In
Trigger ID: Obviously the Motion Sensor
Trigger ID Number: 3
Trigger Value: On(0x11)
Boolean: 1
I have the action set to Raw Formula to send both a Text and an Email and I know that works. so all things being equal if the Motion Sensor actually sent the Low Battery Alert I should have gotten my messages?

Your trigger is correct. The log will close if you exit PH. Also I have found the log to close if you exit Insteon Explorer so you might want to test.

I don't have a Smarthome Motion Sensor but all other Smarthome Insteon devices I have worked with require a link for the particular Group before a Group message is sent for that Group number. For example, if you link KPL button 3 to the PH PLM, you will not see KPL button 4 messages until button 4 is also linked to the PH PLM. Check the links for the PLM and see if a responder link for Group 3 from the motion sensor is present. There is no way to check the motion sensor link database using PH as the motion sensor does not support the Peek command used by PH (and most other software) to read the motion sensor link database memory.

Ok so there was no Link as a Responder for Group 3 for my motion sensor. So what I did was I manually created a link and changed the Group to 3. So in theory now this should work? I only have to wait another 4 or 5 months to find out!

Top right side of options under Insteon Explorer. Are you on PH1 or PH2?

For sure the Echo option is not where I said it is on PH2. Not sure the option exists on PH1.

You need to be at 2.1b to take full advantage of the Motion Detector. You also have to put the Motion Detector into Setup Mode and link the PLM/PLC to it. Raw Log is in an update to V1 somewhere around 12b or c if my memory serves me..
