Hi Everyone,

I've been using PowerHome 2.1b for a few days and just registered it this morning. It's doing most of what I want but I'm running into a problem using the "Triggers" and don't know if it's something I'm doing wrong or if my controller is at fault. I'm using the PowerLinc Modem Model 2413UH as a controller. In PowerHome it is defined as INSTEON PLM. I'm using all X10 components and have no problem turing them on or off.

Under Triggers I set up a trigger to execute a macro when the trigger of B3 ON is received (X10 IN) but no matter what, nothing happens. I've used several devices to transmit the B3 ON and a light set up as B3 responds to the command but PowerHome does not seem to see anything.

I have PowerHome running on Win 7 64 bit.

Any help on this will be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks

Derek

Under Insteon Explorer in the Insteon Raw Log pane on the right side do you see X10 traffic when the B3 ON is sent?

Hi Lee,

Thanks for replying!!

No, under Insteon Explorer no X10 traffic from any of my three controllers/transmitters shows up. Only traffic I see is when I execute an X10 command inside of PowerHome, however, all three do turn my devices on/off/dim etc.

Is there something I have to "turn on" in PowerHome I've overlooked?

Could it be something to do with Win 7 64 bit?

Has my PLM gone wacky or in need of some kind of reset?

This one really has me puzzled.

In Powerhome Explorer, under Setup | Controllers | Settings for Insteon PLM, be sure all the X10 commands are checked under X10 Receive Commands. If these are not checked, do a Reinit after checking all the commands and saving the changes.

Do outbound X10 commands reach all the X10 devices?

I’m wondering if there is a problem with X10 commands getting to the Powerhome PLM location.

Yes, everything is checked and the outbound reach without any problems.

I hooked up my old CM11A, set it up in PowerHome, and disabled the 2413UH and everything works fine, all macros, triggers, etc.

Unless there is something going on with the 2413UH that I don't know about, i.e. somehow windows firewall is involved, etc. I'm inclined to believe this 2413UH unit is defective.

I am using an HL2 enabled 2412 with no problems. The PLM is not affected by firewall/network configuration. Seems an odd PLM failure to be able to send X10 but not receive X10. Since there is no Insteon involved try a factory reset on the PLM.

Pete, you around. Can you think of any PH configuration that might be suppressing inbound X10 that would be specific to the PLM. Already covered the Controller Setup.

Dumb question but by reset do you mean in PowerHome or somehow with just the PLM?

Unplug the PLM. After a full minute or more push and hold the PLM Set button. With Set button held in plug in the PLM and continue to hold the Set button in for 10 seconds. That should factory reset the PLM. This process erases any link records in the PLM but since you are 100% X10 it will make no adverse affect.

If that does not resolve the problem I am out of ideas. Still seems an odd symptom but I have no new ideas. Pete must be out of town.

Lee you are the man!!

I did as you suggested and BANG, everything is doing what it is supposed to. Traffic shows under the insteon explorer and all my triggers work perfectly.

I really really appreciate your help in this as I don't think I'd have ever gotten the right answer anywhere else. All smarthome's customer service could come up with was that what I was sending commands with had too low signal strength for the 2413UH to see. Evidently this reset is not very well known about.

Again, thanks!!

Sorry I’m late on this one. Lee you’re now the X10 guru… good shot. It is not normal to have to hard reset the PLM for X10 problems and wonder what might have caused it. If you were using a PLC we would know why.
