Greetings,
The old computer I had PH on crashed and I am trying to reinstall the
latest vesion of PH on a new computer and transfer my old macros and
such to the new version.
My first problem is I have not played with PH in more then a year and I
have no idea what version my old PH was in order to update with
phupg.exe.
I tried upgrading from what version I thought I might have. The upgrade
utility said it converted the database successfully but when I run PH
none of my moduals work and during startup PH give me an error "An
error occurred while attempting to open com port 11 on W800RF32, the
port is already open."
I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling PH. After the uninstall I went in
and deleted the PH directory as I see the uninstall still leaves some
files there. But when I reinstall PH2.1, it somehow still shows all my old
macro and modual information! At least if I could delete all my old setup
files I could rebuild from scratch but how to do that if deleting the whole
directory doesn't remove my original setup??
Not sure if this helps in the diagnostics but my old system was XP 32
bit and the new system is Windows 7 home premium in 64bit and PH
directory is now in Program Files (x86)
Thanks for the help!

Reinstall 212 to the default C: not programfiles. Install 214 on top of it and search for the script fix that generates an error at bring up. Then do your normal thing you did like install the DB and the ini plus run the upgrade utility. I’m not in front of my PH system at the moment but I believe this should get you going.

Here is the script fix:
regsvr32 "c:\powerhome\ph_scriptserver.ocx".
Delete all Powerhome folders. Install 2.1.2 then unzip 2.1.4 and copy on top of the C:\Powerhome
Again make sure you install using the defaults. Apply the fix after the last step then do the DB and ini copies plus the phupg. Not knowing what version you were on you may have to use a sequence of phupg utilities to reach the current.

Thanks for the help. In the download section I only see up to version 2.1b available, nothing about 2.1.2 or 2.1.4.

See this topic for 2.1.2. In the many pages of this topic are links to 2.1.3 and 2.1.4. No need to install 2.1.3 as 2.1.4 includes 2.1.3 changes. On top of 2.1.4 there is another ZIP for I2CS support that is unzipped on top of 2.1.4.
