Hi Dave,

OP XP Pro
PH 1.03.4.2
DB 1.03.6

After installing the upgrade I get the following message whenever I restart or reinitialize PH.

Connect Error:
Cannot find the phrr3.ocx control. Please install and register this control. Commands will not be transmitted.

The install was a little messy, initially received a not compatible error, found the workaround in the PH forum. (Renamed prior version (1.03.4)and created new directory with my ph.ini file in then upgraded.)

Any clue as to where I botched this up?

Thanks, Steve A

Jon,

It looks like the phrr3.ocx is not properly registered. Locate your new PowerHome installation. If you renamed your old and installed to the default location, it will be C:\Program Files\PowerHome. In this directory, you should find a file named phrr3.ocx. If everything looks as it should, go to your Start button and select "Run". On the command line type: regsvr32 "c:\program files\powerhome\phrr3.ocx" and press "OK". You should get a window saying that the control was successfully registered.

Restart PowerHome and you should be back up and running.

Let me know if you're still having problems,

Dave.

Steve,

Did your RedRat3 work without problems in your previous version (1.03.4 if I read correctly)?

Steve,

I havent had a chance to put this info on a webpage yet but this is the complete checklist to getting the RR3 working with PowerHome. So far, this has worked for everyone (fingers crossed). Anyways, step through it for me on your end and let's see what happens.

1. Verify that the Microsoft dotnet framework installed. This should be included with your RedRat3 CD or can be downloaded from Microsoft.

2. Verify that the RedRat3 drivers included on the RR3 CD are properly installed. You should be able to verify RR3 operation using the test application on the CD.

2. Download and install the RedRat3 SDK version 1.11. You can get it from here: http://www.redrat.co.uk/SDK/RedRat_SDK_1.11.zip

3. Verify that VB6 runtime is installed. You can download it from here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/vb60pro/install/6/Win98Me/EN-US/VBRun60.exe

4. Locate the phrr3.ocx file. This should be default located in the PowerHome directory at C:\Program Files\PowerHome. Once located, go to Start->run and type regsvr32 "c:\whatever_the_path_to_the_file_is\phrr3.ocx" This should have been done for you by the PowerHome install but it doesnt hurt to make sure.

Dave.

Heh Dave...

Ran through your directions and now back in business! Something I didn't mention was that I got connected via DSL at about the same time I upgraded. Alot of things got changed in the network settings and possibly the dotnet framework got corrupted.

Thanks for the quick response!

Steve

Steve,

Glad it's working now. Let me know if you have any other problems.

Hi Dave..

FYI

System did the same thing going to ver.3, this time went for the RR3 test rat program right away, received 'no RR's found'. Unpluged the USB and restarted, reconnected and error went away.

Thanks, SA

Dave,

FYI...

Installed Norton System Works / Firewall 2005 and received same error again. Unplugged RR3 USB and rebooted, reconnected RR3 USB and error went away...

Hmmm...it looks like the RR3 can be little touchy when new software is installed. In your previous message, you state that when you installed version .3 of PowerHome, even the RedRat3 test program failed to work?

For all following...it would appear that if your RR3 has been working normally and suddenly goes belly-up, a good chance of bringing things back in order would be to do as Steve outlines...unplugging the RR3, rebooting, and reconnecting the RR3.

Hope you had good holidays

Dave.
