Hello,

I had an old 8-button Keypad die and purchased a new
one (Keypad Dimmer-Dual Band- 8 button Model: 2334-
222)

In the past, I've swapped out old Insteon pads and
switches, used the "Replace Address" feature in PH and
I was up and running in 5 minutes.

This switch is giving me all sorts of trouble. I'm
getting NAK on the log for almost every communication.
The KPL Config screen shows all the buttons as non-
toggle and I can't seem to change them. I've tried to
rebuild numerous times but it doesn't seem to work.

If I go to the PH "Devices" tab, I can control the
load light with no problem (so my PLM is working). I
can modify other switches and pads in my house with
PH. I can also MANUALLY set up controller and
responder links on the new keypad with no problem
(button presses and running around the house).

For some reason PH just doesn't want to program this
thing. Is there a new hardware version that PH doesn't
know about? The PH Device Type is set to 2486DWH8
(like my other KPL's).

The markings on the actual KPL are:
INSTEON 2334-222
Rev.7.4
4414

My PLM is: 2413U V1.7 1222

PowerHome2, Version 2.1.4, DB Version 2.1.2

One other note... This whole thing started with a COM
issue. I hadn't used PH in a couple of months. When I
started it up, I was getting COM errors; PH couldn't
find the PLM. I found some older forum messages that
mentioned forcing the COM back to what PH is looking
for. That seemed to work, but that issue has me
worried it's related to the KPL issue. Other stuff is
working now, so I don't think the COM thing is a
player, but I'm paranoid now .

Any ideas?

Ken,

If its a new KPL then its most likely an I2CS device
which your version of PowerHome won't support. You
should upgrade to the latest (2.1.5c). Check out this
forum announcement: home.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?

home.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=4469&PN=1

Hope this helps,

Dave.

Hi Dave,

As SOON as I made that post, I noticed the
announcements on the top of the forum for 2.1.5a/b/c.
I hadn't given the upgrades much thought because I did
the I2CS patch last year to get another new switch
working.

Sure enough, I installed 2.1.5c just now and all is
well. My KPL is working like a champ.

Thank you for the wonderful software & updates, and I
apologize for the trouble!
