I have some icon lamp modules and have noted that when first autodiscoved the device type is 0.

If I change them to Lamplincs I can control them in the Device List screen, but they do not respond when I link them to a button on a keypadlinc (true lamplincs assigned to the same button on the keypadlinc do respnond).

Thoughs?

TIA

Mike,

How are you creating the links between the KPL and the Icon lamp modules? Are you tap-tapping them or using PowerHome? If you created the links using PowerHome when they had a device type of 0, then the links were probably never actually created because device type 0 is basically a pointer to not found. If this is the case, recreate the links with the device type set as a lamplinc.

If the links were tap-tapped, then Im not sure why they wouldnt work. If you look in the PowerHome Explorer under Devices->Insteon->Groups->By Controller, do the links show up? If not, then they probably arent there.

Concerning the device type showing as 0 when autodiscovered...this is because the Icons are not defined in the Insteon Types table. You can get to this screen from the Explorer under Devices->Insteon->Types. If you started with PowerHome early on and have upgraded, then you would not have the Icon links in your table. You can add the Icon entries easily enough though from this screen. Just set them up the same as their LampLinc and ApplianceLinc counterparts. Make sure that the description though matches the Model numbers that appear in the models.txt file in the Device Manager maps directory. To save you some time, the proper descriptions would be:

2856S3 - Icon Appliance Module

and

2856D2 - Icon Lamp Dimmer

These entries are in the current beta but if you started with an earlier version and upgraded, you wouldnt have them. This should take care of the autodiscovery problem.

Let me know,

Dave.

I am using Powerhome to do my links (and I like it!).

I did start with an older version, so I suspect it is the models.txt file is out of date. I'll try that tonight. Thanks!
