Everything was working fine with Power-home until this morning, until I ran windows updates. I updated my computer with the latest updates and rebooted, started Power-home and left for work. When I got home all of my devices turned red in the device tab. I cleared them all and rebooted my computer again. This time when I open Power-Home, I get a new Smart Lab Device Manager in the task bar over and over again, until I close out of PH. I removed the PLC from the controller setup in PH explore and I no longer get the Smart Lab Device Manager in the sys tray. When I add it back I get them all back again. After I close PH I have to go into task manger and close all SDM3.exe processes. If

Any Ideas

Thx
Jared

Jared,

I had the same/similar problem a month or so ago where the SDM was showing up many many times on the taskbar. If I remember correctly, I shut down PowerHome, shut down my computer, and unplugged the PLC from the power outlet for a minute or so. Plugged it back in, rebooted my PC and started up PowerHome and I was back to normal.

Good luck.

Well this just plan sucks.

I ended up uninstalling power-home and deleting the directory and reinstalling it and then added all my devices back. This was on Thanksgiving morning, I then bumped the failed max for insteon devices to 5 and have not had a problem since. Then last night all devices show up as failed. I clear them, and nothing happens. So I turned off power-home and power off the computer. Wait 5 minutes and power it back on. I launch power-home and AGAIN, I get the SDM showing up multiple times in the task bar. Just like last week. I have not unplugged the PLC yet. I will try this when I get home today. Has anything else had issues like this?

Thx
J

This just happened to me. Sometime last night, the SDM stopped. This AM, I tried exiting PH and rebooting, but multiple SDM's kept starting up.

I shut down PH and the SDM's, cycled power to the PLC, and brought PH back up. This time, all was well.

Yea,

I had this happen few from times since then. For some reason all my Insteon Device fail "Max fail set to 5 and Comm Reliability is all above 99%" I clear the fails and then I get the multiple SDMs in the sys tray. I unplug the PLC reboot and plus the PLC back in and I am good to go. I went 7 days before this happened the first time and now it seems to happen ever 3-4 days, and nothing has been added or deleted from the current setup. Go figure

Since the latest versions of the SDM seem to be more stable, Ive gone ahead and changed the PowerHome SDM launch code to try and combat the multiple SDM syndrome. I don't know however if it will help out on the PLC lockup problem where the PLC needs to be physically unplugged and plugged back in to clear it's state. To help in tracking this, could everyone who has experienced this post the following info:

PLC firmware revision (PowerHome Help|About|Controllers should give this to you).
USB or Serial.
How many days running before needing to be reset.

Thanks,

Dave.

Diversion:

I just saw this on another board...

SH just released SDM 308 (which fixes the VERY annoying shutdown problem)

Maybe related?

1-2 days max, before all devices failed and I need to clear them and then unplug the PLC. I have not changed a thing and when I first set it up it ran for 6-7 days with any issues.

No set number of days before a problem happens. I was over 7 days uptime without a problem, then I turned on Status Scan in Insteon Explorer and within 24 hours my system was screwy, although I didn't have the multiple-SDM problem. I did have to unplug my Insteon PLC and my X-10 CM11A, just closing down PowerHome and restarting didn't seem to help.

Well,

Im 14 days and so far havent seen it yet. However, since this seems to be relatively new with latest version of PowerHome, Im thinking it may be the version 278 of the SDM. Im not sure if 308 is any better, but it's worth a try. The previous version of the SDM was 235 and that seems to have been the most stable thus far. I'll work on a download for the SDM 235 so users with this problem can see if it helps or not.

Dave.

What about the 308 version that seems to note a lockup fix?

22 days of uptime so far and no problem yet (knocking on my refrigerator since I don't have any wood near me ). Don't know if it makes a difference or not but Im using the serial version of the PLC since I don't have a USB cable that is long enough to reach.

I think Gustavo was testing the 308 version to see if it was any more reliable. If anyone is using the new version, please post your results here if it seems to be working better. The next version of PowerHome will be ready very soon and Im trying to decide whether to release it with the 235 SDM or the latest which is currently 308.

Thanks,

Dave.
