I've just got some insteon equipment and powerhome trial. I've setup the insteon DM and have seen some activity in the log when pressing buttons on the control linc, and I have been able to auto discover devices with some retrying. In the log I see red eventraw=05 errors and the devices are not reponding. I'm attaching the log below. Any ideas where I could be stuck? I've read the documentation and can't seem to figure out why I can't communicate with the devices discovered.

sveiks23,
Welcome to PowerHome!
From the little snippet of the SDM log you've posted, I can see where you've autodiscovered a LampLinc. That all looks ok and I can see where PowerHome added the LampLinc address to the PLC's database. PowerHome is then tries to perform a couple of status requests on this new LampLinc and they are failing with NAK messages.
So, a couple of things. Make sure that when you want to control devices, that you've turned the auto-discovery off. Also, if you don't have the SignaLincs to bridge your phases, you'll probably definately need to get them. Some people get by without them and some absolutely must have them.
The inability to directly control a device (or get the status request) is usually a sign of communication issues or the PLC not having the device ID in it's database (which it does in this case). Most communication issues are caused by 1. No SignaLincs 2. Noise/attenuation caused by computer power supplies or surge protectors 3. Not having enough Insteon devices.
Make sure that the PLC is not plugged into the same outlet as your computer. Depending upon your computer's power supply, this can make all the difference in the world. Also make sure that the PLC is plugged directly into the wall and not a surge protector or power strip. You may want to try relocating the LampLinc closer to the PLC to help isolate or rule out noise/attenuation issues.
Let me know what you find out.
Dave.

Hi Dave,
I followed your suggestions on how to solve communications and it is working well now. Moving the PLC away from the compuer power supply was the one I believe that solved it.
Thanks for your help and I look forward to spending more time in PowerHome.
Ed

That usually seems to be the problem in most cases (always the simplest thing to ).
Glad it's working now and let me know if you have any questions or problems.
Dave.
