Is there anything wrong with this formula?

ph_backupdb ( "c:\ph.db", 1)

This hangs PH for me.

Thanks - Tony

Tony,

That formula should work fine.  I tested several times on my machine without a problem.

When it hangs, how do you recover?  Do you have to reboot, just exit PowerHome, etc.  Also, where was the formula run from?  I did my testing from the Formula Evaluator under the Control Menu.

Dave.

I just run it from a macro; trying to automate the backup. When it hangs, I eventually get a critical error. I though those were e-mailed to you?

Nahhh,

The critical errors aren't automatically emailed.  You have to click the link to email them and it just copies all of the relevant info into the body of email for you automatically.  Just saves you having to type it in or doing a screen print and sending that.

I'll experiment some more and try running it from a macro.  When you run it from a macro, is it in a formula all by itself, or is it part of a larger equation?

Dave.

I have tried a formula and a message box with the same results. No other code in the macro.

Im back and trying to catch up...is this still a problem?  When it critical errors, can you pass that along to me?

Thanks,

Dave.

Dave,

Sure, I'll pass it on. I just sent you one, but, for a different reason! That was the first time I saw the dialog box giving the option to send an e-mail.

Dave,

I also ran ph_backupdb as:

ph_setvar_a(2,1,ph_backupdb( "C:\PowerHome Stuff\dbXX1", 1 ))

var(2,1) got the return code as +1.

When I minimized PH it froze. I could kill Sybase but I couldn't kill PH via the Win Task Mgr. I next tried a shutdown that took an agonizingly long time but did shutdown. After rebooting, PH came up ok. <SCRIPT language=javascript>postamble();

Pat and Tony,

Ive been playing around with this and I can make it crash everytime .

Apparently a bug has creeped into the ph_backupdb function and it currently is not working.  So far, I have not been able to run it and have it work correctly so I would refrain from using this function until the next release.

The next release should be available within about 4 weeks.  The last release was a little hasty and did not get my full testing.

Dave.
