Dave, I know there is a post somewhere about the difficulties in interfacing with Windows Media Player. You didn't want to write a plug-in. I started thinking about how the media keyboards work - they seem to work with most players and don't use a plug-in... well this is what I found - I haven't decided if I'm going to try to use this, but thought you might find it interesting.

WM_APPCOMMAND

Basically if a window does not handle this message it get passed to DefWinProc, which then passes it on to a shell hook (HSHELL_APPCOMMAND). Seems like this could be almost trivial to use...

Tony,

Great find. I'll look into this and see if I can do something up similar like I did for WinAmp.

I'll get around to writing a plugin (for both WinAmp and WMP). It's just more than I can handle at the moment until I get the release version of PH out.
