I am trying to set up a trigger on a switch to detect when it has been turn on/off. The switch is controller of two other remote switches (so I can monitor the light status on their LED), as well as a controller of the PLC so I am sure that messages make it to the PLC. When I turn the switch on and off, the LEDs on the other remotes do follow, so I know the links are set up correctly, and I do get group cleanup messages in the log, but no group broadcast messages. When I use the remote switches, I do get the group broadcast messages, and I have been able to set up triggers for them. Furthermore, I can control the switch in question from PH via the control button on the device tab of the insteon explorer, so I am sure the device ID is in the PLC. What can I do to detect switch presses on this switch? Is there something wrong with this switch?

Try using Insteon Device Chg for your trigger type.

Sorry to take so long getting back. The scenario you describe is a classic one of the PLC not having the ID of the Insteon device in it's database. Without an ID in the PLC database, the PLC can still control the device in question and the PLC will see the group cleanups intended for the other devices, but will fail to see the group broadcasts.
It's easy enough to fix. Just go to the Setup tab of the Insteon Explorer and do a clear PLC database followed by an add ID's to PLC (min). After this is done, the PLC should see the communications.

Yeah, that did it. I really wonder what people do with Insteon networks without software like PH. I must have uploaded the database to my PLCs six times in the last year and a half. I could not imagine doing the tap-tap dance for my entire network each time that needed to be done. Yikes!
How many times have some of you had to re-upload tour database to the PLC? Should I be concerned?
