I added a couple devices to a group. I have said group
a name "TEST". I'm trying to control it with a formula
like:

ph_insteongroup("TEST", 17, 0)

or {for off}:

ph_insteongroup("TEST", 19, 0)

but it doesn't seem to do anything. If I use the
"control" function in Insteon Explorer for that group it
turns then on and off. If I create a macro and do a
group command it works.

Edit: This is in version 2...if I close Insteon
Explorer it seems to work fine. If it's left open there
is a crazy long (but not the same every time) delay. I
noticed it because after trying to control a device
about 10 times after I closed Insteon Explorer suddenly
I got all 10 on/off cycles in about 2 seconds of
blinking. Seems like very odd behavior.Edit

I just tried your formula and it works. Did you create
it in the PowerHome Explorer formula section and then
verify it? If so, what was the error message you
received?

See my edit in the post above.

Actually, all my testing was done in the formula editor.
It always returned a 0. And for that matter, an
evaluation time of 0.

I'm pretty sure it's working now. In fact I think that,
for what ever reason, I was getting a huge lag when
trying to make it work by clicking "verify".

As a test I replaced a macro that turned 6 lights of in
sequence with a group command (it fires on a fast off
trigger) and that works fine too.

Travis,

The only thing that I can think of is that perhaps the Insteon Explorer and PowerHome was trying to create or read links or something. To create a link takes about 10 to 20 seconds and basically needs to continue uninterrupted. If the Group command was made during this timeframe, it would have been queued up and then executed once the other processes were done. However, it would have been a priority process and if you had multiple links to create, as soon as the current link was finished, before the next link would start, PH would have emptied and processes all queued commands. Not saying this is what happened, but all I can think of at the moment.

Let me know if this is still causing problems.

Dave.

It seems to be working alright now. At this point I'm
going to assume it was an odd problem that's working
fine now. (I've got a porch light that turns on with a
timed event each night and I wanted a keypad button to
reflect that. So far they have stayed in sync just
fine.)

The thing that threw me the most was that using the
"control" button on the group tab in Insteon Explorer
seems to be 100% reliable. It was only my function that
was shady.

I was trying to do a bunch of things at once, so maybe
that was part of the problem. I also had a couple PC's
plugged in that where not on filters, so they could have
been making communications less reliable too. (I had
noticed that lately I had a couple linked
buttons/switchlinks that were not reflecting status
changes either. That fits with the communications
issue.)
