Following up to the previous post regarding the RemoteLinc2
and my linking problems. I felt this should be a separate
post.
I still have a few remaining x10 modules in use here.
right now for Christmas light control, I need to control
one X10 module like I do 4 other Insteon modules. I'm not
sure if there is a way to link these or not. My thought
was, if I turn on a insteon module, I would like the x10
module to turn on as well. Same thing when I turn off. I've
played with some basic formulas, but have gotten no where.
Is this possible??

I hate to burst your bubble but Insteon and X10 don’t talk to each other. My Xmas lights are 90% X10 probable for the same reason as yours. We have a bunch of old gear still around. I use a macro that test for that time of year then fires up Insteon and X10 devices.

Maybe I should add to that. If you were to trigger an Xmas Insteon device going on then you could fire a macro to turn on X10 devices. That’s about as close as you are going to get to a group on.

Yeah, that is exactly what I'm trying to figure out. I
know
Insteon and X10 don't chat with each other. I found
macros
fairly easy to make with all X10, but this Insteon stuff
isn't as friendly. This is kind of where I need the help.
I should mention I have 4 Insteon modules and 1 x10
module controlling my xmas lights. I'd like the X10
module to turn on when anyone of the Insteon modules do,
and the same when turning them off.

You could set up 4 triggers each with the id of a Insteon and then light up the x10 as a result. Or you could check the device in on dev chg trigger for one of the 4 insteons. I believe it is temp 7 and that could cause the x10 to do whatever. There may be even a more elegant way as I’m just thinking out loud….

Well, it seems I just can't get a X10 signal to that
outlet. Which is probably why I thought I was doing
something wrong.
I tried controlling it directly from PH and nothing
happened. It did work with a X10 remote though. This is why
I have been changing to Insteon. As much as the
instructions frustrate me to hell... it does work far
better. X10 has never worked reliably in this house, like
it did my old house. I have ordered another Insteon module
for this location.... problem solved.

Gadgets,
If an X10 remote works (and the device you're controlling is not a TM751 transceiver module), then the problem may be too much noise around your PLC/PLM. A common problem is plugging the PLC/PLM into the same outlet or powerstrip that the PH PC is plugged into and the power supply from the PC attenuates the signal.
A common tactic to verify if this is a problem is to use an extension cord to plug the PLC/PLM into a separate outlet (preferably separate circuit) and see if communication improve. If so, you may need to plug the PC into a filterlinc.
If the X10 module you're trying to control is the appliance side of a TM751 module, then this can ONLY be controlled via an X10 RF signal. This used to drive me crazy until I finally discovered that the appliance module of this transceiver does not respond to powerline X10 commands.
Hope this helps,
Dave.
