Great information Manny!

Now just to find time to work on this at home Of course, running Xlobby on the same PC as PH (for the skins) I wouldn't need DCC, just sendkeys.

It's PLAY TIME FOLKS!

My server is down.
I don't think Cox liked me getting visitors on my PC.
I'll move the instructions somewhere else tonight.

the IE version is over 2mb, so easier to right-click and save target as. the firefox version won't show pics in IE, which may be normal.

Manny, if you need somewhere to host them, let me know adn I'll put them on my server (commercial, not home PC)

Thanks!

You are welcome to share it if you still have the file.

I won't get home until tonight (pacific time), so will not be able to do anything until then.

I'll put them both up, but I don't know if the firefox will work since I can't see the pictures when I open it (i don't have firefox). It will be about 6:15 or 6:30 eastern time when it's up. I'll post the new link at that time.

The firefox version won't work anymore as it is html based w/images and html located on my PC. The ie version I guess is an mht(?) document . Firefox will not open it natively, but can if the ie tab plug-in is used.

Thanks for yor web space.

While on the subject of Front End GUIs.

Has anyone played with widgets/gadgets as small animated super icons to have PH perform actions?

I've been looking at DesktopX and Kapsules...

Manny,

I run Sysmetrix, and have added some buttons in skins that trigger PH to do things.

Manny,
Great Post!!! XLobby appears promising as a PH front end.

I need some guidance...

I will be using a networked Fujitsu 3500 touchscreen running Xlobby. PowerHome will be on my remote server. I have been able to get Xlobby to send commands to PH via command line (PHSSCMD as described). I have also been able to set up PH triggers to send keys to DCC as described.

What I have NOT been able to do is have the Hotkey Plug-In "see" these keys in XLobby.

Could you please expand on how you set up this plug-in? I have it installed in Xlobby, but the documentation that came with the HotKey plug-in (concerning setting up the events) is a bit confusing. Can you add anything here?

I could never get that part working either. I couldn't even get the hotkey plugin to see them manually.

XLobby to PH - GREAT!
PH to XLobby - No go yet

Oh well, plenty of time to work this out ... actually, to keep from driving the wife crazy, had to setup a spare lamplinc in the room with my computer and plug in a lamp for "testing" purposes

Yeah, I skipped a step, I'll blame it on the heat and lack of sleep. Plus I was working from memory...

I'm updating the documents with:

  • In the event manager add a command XLHotkeyPlugin:enabled:true to your startup event. This enables the plugin.

I think I broke the Google site...

You'd think they'd be Manny-proof.

Here's the MHT file:
http://fast.filespace.org/Mannyman/PH_XL.zip

GooglePage is back up.

Also as an alternative to XLHotkeys I'll be testing a plug-in called XReceive this weekend.

In the event manager add a command XLHotkeyPlugin:enabled:true to your startup event. This enables the plugin.

Note: To get the Plug-in to work (in order to see it), I had to copy the two .dll files into the Xlobby PLUGINS directory. In reading over the Plug-In instructions, once you later configure the plug-in, these two .dll files will create two additional directories called "Hotkeyhook" and "Xlhotkeypulgin" into the PLUGINS directory.

Anyway....It was getting late, but I believe that I did indeed do this step in italics above. After adding the start up event (just as you did), I did restart Xlobby.

(Ignore this next paragraph....I think i got it working and will update soon).
I then tried to configure the plug-in. Where I got hung up was trying to assign an event to my Shift-F1 hot key (using the same keys as your example). I could not hit the "...." under event box and have anything appear (as I think it should.

Did you have to assign some events or do anything else before configuring the HotKey plugin?

NOTE: Edited for my STUPIDITY in not reading the PLUG-IN instructions.

Smarty,
I can send you my skin if you'd like. PM me with your address or I'll see if I can load the relevant XML to filespace.

I used Number Keys:
123..etc. and shift 123 (!@#)for my Global Hotkeys.

Hope I didn't confuse too many people.

I meant for my overview to supplement not replace the original readme file that came with the plug-in; as that was all I used for installation...

I did add the 1st line in the readme about the .dlls to my document.

My main focus was to highlight the use of an alternate frontend GUI for those of us that are html challenged; and to show off a little...

I'll let everyone know how I fare with the other plugin and write if it's easier for me or not.

Hope it's cool to do it here, as I guess this might belong in the Xlobby forum; but PH is my 1st love...

Also I'm still goofing around with the use of widgets/gadgets that non-programmer's like me can use w/PH.

These excercises are of course interim solutions until DH rolls out his remote client.

Lesson learned: I suck a$$ at macro/formula writing, but I'm not too shabby at cutting and pasting other people's work. So, hopefully this can pay back this forum for all the useful tips I've Ctrl-c'd along the way.

I updated my last post after READING the HotKey Plug-In instructions more carfully. The comments on how to install this Plug-In are now correct.

My comments about not being able to assign a hotkey have been overcome, and I will post additional details as soon as I read and test more. Stay tuned.

P.S. Manny, thanks for your posts!!!

To keep this relevant to Macros and Programming:

I need help sending the following over my LAN.

The following works from the command line (includes quotation marks.):

XSend.exe "command:xlobby:goto screen:menu"

I haven't figured out how to do this with ph_ssrequest and ph_run formula.
I think I have an issue with all the quotation marks.

How do I get the following to work?:

ph_ssrequest ("IP address", Port#, "User" ,"Password","FORMULA","ph_run('c:\XSend.exe "command:xlobby:button state next:mb light"')")

Any help would be appreciated.
