Hi all, I can't seem to figure out how to get the elkinsteon.exe application to work properly. I have tried running it on XP and Vista with the same results. Whenever I try to get application to load to the M1XSP, or read from it, I get an error message about: "Application Terminated Error accessing external object property commport at line....." I've tried this on 2 machines with the same result. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Still having this issue. Tried it on 2 different Windows XP SP3 machines, and 2 Windows Vista SP2 machines. I even tried a Windows 2008 SBS server. All get the same error message when trying to do anything with the comm port. This has occured with built in serial ports as well as a prolific USB to Serial adapter. I know this has worked in the past, but it's been a while since I've used it. Has anyone else had this problem?

OK, I have worked with Brad Weeks at Elk (thanks Brad). It turns out my Serial port communication is good (verified with putty via terminal connection) and the M1XSP is doing what it's supposed to. The following are screen shots of the erroes I get:
Write Error (Load):
Read Error:
It looks like an application bug at this point, so I might have to post it in a different section. Does anyone know if there is a debug version of the elkinsteon application that might help?
Thanks.

OK, Just booted up a Windows 2000 laptop that's been sitting in my closet for months. Coppied over the elkinsteon utility (1.04, and 1.03) and tried both. I still get the same error. I'm beginning to think there is a field around my house that is preventing this from working.

SUCCESS!... Sort of.
I downloaded the 2.1b version of powerhome and used that to configure the M1XSP. That Worked!.
Now, if only the stand alone utility were pulled out of there.
