I just replaced an inline linc with an Insteon Micro
Module and am having issues getting it to work with PH.
I thought I saw a replace function but couldn't find it
so I replaced the address of the old module with that of
the new everywhere I could find it. I saved the change
and went to the links tab. I added all the necessary
controllers to the new module (kitchen middle light) and
saved. The controller link verified on two of the three
controllers however neither device (computer interface
and keypad linc) will control the new module. The log
shows NAKs from the new module. The Insteon Hub which is
located within a couple of feet of the interface and
plugged into the same circuit picked up the new device
and controls it flawlessly. Another strange occurrence
is that PH creates both controller and responder links
for my devices and the name and description are "[ID NOT
FOUND]" and both link statuses being "link not found" or
"checking". What's really odd is PH added 26 of these
lines as responders of the new module with an address of
FF.FF.FF and a controller link status of verified. The
activity log shows PH trying to talk to this device but
the response is always Insteon Timeout. If I delete
these links by dragging them to the device list they're
marked Flagged Delete but they always come back. Again,
this happens with most of my devices except the link
status never says verified. I'm running version 2.1.5d
with the database version being 2.1.5. I would
appreciate any and all help.

Thanks,
Dean

Dean,

Sorry to hear you're having such problems. Sounds like things are pretty messed up.

I think we're beyond using the "Replace Address" function which is in the Insteon Explorer, Devices tab, scroll to the right and it's a Green
background labeled column called "Replace Address".

Best way to fix this now is to first go to the "Devices" tab. Locate the device (the micro module) and place a check mark in its "Disabled" column.
Press the Save/Refresh button. This should stop PowerHome from continuing to try and communicate with the device. Next, go to the "Links" tab. Find the
Device (the micro module) and make it the currently selected device. You should see all it's Controller links and Responder links (however messed up
they may be). Click one of the column headings in the Controllers area. All controller rows should highlight. Next click a column heading in the
Responders area. All responder links should highlight. With all controller and responder links highlighted, click the "Remove" button above the left
hand list view. You'll get a big scary "Are you sure?" message box with a long explanation/warning/etc. Just go ahead and click "Yes" then press the
"Save" text at the top of the Links tab. This should remove everything link-wise that PowerHome associates with this device without actually trying to
communicate with it.

With that done, I would go ahead and factory reset the micro module. After the factory reset, manually link the PowerHome PLM as a controller to the
micro module with it as a responder. You can initiate this from the "Manual Linking" tab. On this tab, press the "Launch" button on the PLC/PLM as
Controller Linking section. With PLM in controller linking mode, press the button on the micro module to finish the link.

Once that initial manual link is made, go back to the "Devices" tab and uncheck the "Disabled" column for the device. Save/Refresh. Place a check in
the "Scan DB" column for the device. Save/Refresh. Wait until PowerHome is done querying the device. You should then be able to go to the "Links" tab
and hit "Refresh", navigate to the device as the current device and see that initial manual link. Once that is all setup, you should be good to add
whatever controller/responder links you like.

Hope this helps,

Dave.

Thanks Dave, it worked like a charm! I did have to do the
other links with the set buttons but all is back to normal
now. I think that is probably due to my unfamiliarity
with linking KPL buttons via PH. Thanks again!
