About an hour ago PH failed with a critical error and a red screen.
I am unable to restart PH without encountering this Red Screen. I have restarted the PH Computer, and I have replaced the active database with the saved db from yesterday, but upon restart the Red Screen of Death still appears.
Hopefully Error #39 is a good clue as to what to do next. At the moment I'm stumped.
Help Dave !

Ken,
I don't know the PH error you mention, but I do know that your a PH version behind (2.1.5c - the most current is 2.1.5d).
See this:
**Update - A culmination of all minor fixes is
available here: http://www.power-
home.com/download/ph215d.zip. Just download
and unzip into your PowerHome directory overwriting
any existing files (shutdown PowerHome first of
course). Version will show 2.1.5d when complete. This
is still essentially 2.1.5c with all fixes to date
applied.

Smarty - Thanks.
Yup, call me lazy, but when I noticed (late) that
2.1.5d was released I thought I'd just wait for the
new PH release, but that was many months ago and
Version 3? clearly is still in the oven. So bad
initial decision on my part.
Since there is nothing I can do at the moment to get
PH running again (it crashes within 2 seconds of
loading) I was going to try a reinstall and would have
forgotten about "d" and reloaded "c" so your reminder
was perfectly timed.
Many thanks and Happy New Year.

Dang.
Updated to "ph215d" but still INSTANTLY get screen of
red death upon attempting to start PH.
Maybe time for total reinstall not just an overlay of
replacement files.
Dave if you're around any suggestions about recovery?

Hot Dog !! Got 'er going.
Uninstalled PH and cleaned out Registry and any rogue
files I could find, then did an install of 2.1.5d and
even accepted the 2.1.5d default database file
(pwrhome.db) to start with.
That worked, so I replaced that db with my last
snapshot before the failure day (to be safe) and PH
started up OK.
Whew. I have a few things in the house that the ONLY
way I can control them is via PH, so when it is
completely down I can be SOL.
Things are up and running here again so its a good day
in Lake Wobegon.

Ken,
I've been without internet access the last
couple of days so didn't get your message
until now. Have never seen that error
before so definitely looks like something
became corrupted with your installation.
Reinstalling was the correct course of
action as you figured out. Glad to hear
that you didn't have to redo your database
.
Dave.
