Just as a general question:
How do people have their servers set up to conserve energy? I changed my power settings and now the damn thing keeps going to sleep and not respondig to requests for my webpage or PH controls. I know how to change it but it made me curious how other people have set things up to be as green as possible (and by green I mean money in my pocket from savings )

All I do is shut down the HD after 10 minutes of no activity.

When you send a command to say ... turn on the ligths from an outside source (like the web center) what kind of lag do you see while the HDD spools back up?

Good question. I never noticed any unusual lag. I'll look into it.
