HI - I know this may have to wait for the next release, but I was thinking how cool it would be to be able to remotely control the 'beep' on the control-linc. First thing I would use it for is command confirmation (you trigger a command with a combination of keypresses, and AFTER the command is SUCCESSFULLY executed, you get a beep back. Or, if the command was not successful (which for me, currently triggers an email), you get 3 beeps back. I think this can be extended to KPLs (which I'm told can beep as well?). Anyway, I wanted to start a thread to discuss. Is there a way to do this now? Will there be one in the next release (I think it's an 'extended' command).

This would be a cool feature but I don't think its possible. I went through the entire Insteon command reference and could find no command that would allow you to trigger a beep on a ControLinc or any other device. There are indeed commands to enable/disable the beep on Insteon devices (ControLinc, RemoteLinc, etc). These commands are actually standard commands and not extended commands.
If anyone else has any info on this or knows if its possible to do, please post and I'll definately get it implemented.
Dave.

Dave - a while ago I wrote to Smarthome suggesting an enunciator module (like X-10 chime module). Matt P's short answer (3/16/10) included this statement
"We are currently in development with our HouseLinc 2 software that will be able to access the beeper function in our newer devices so when they are responders, they would be able to beep when triggered".
I followed up for more info, but he never responded. I guess Controllinc isn't a "newer" device?
