Hello,
I am trying to dim an Insteon group to a specific level without using multiple dim commands.

Is there anyway of doing that?

Looping with 3% change seems a bit barbaric...

You want to dynamically change the Bright level of the responders or just statically change the responders to go to a different Bright level than they were originally linked as.

I would like to dynamically change the brightness level.

I have set up a few groups with different brightness levels but that is pretty clunky.

I am trying to calculate the level based on the ambient light and ideally ramp up within a second. I am trying to avoid using the bright 0x15 command in a loop due to the latency.

No way to do that now. There is an Extended message that is documented to have that capability but I don't know if Smartlabs has rolled out any devices with that support. Makes no difference for now as PH2 does not support Extended messages. Maybe in the next release.

It would be nice if existing devices could be reflashed with the extended protocol. It seems like it would be possible but I suspect Smarthome would prefer to have me replace all of my dimmers...

Simplehomenet is the only company that updates their firmware that I know of. I would not think about replacing anything until PH2 has Extended command support and the current devices can be tested to see if they have that specific command support.

No panic to replace any devices over here other than replacing dimmers with faulty mechanical switches... I wish I would have built the house a couple of years later due to that problem.

Is there any update when the new version of PH is going to be released?

Lots of folks are asking that same question. Nothing specific from Dave.
