Oh, wow, I haven't been running PH on my new Win7 64-bit machine for more than 2 hours and I am seeing _major_ instability. It is continually crashing with 'pwrhome.exe has stopped working'.
When I first start PH it seems to be fine, and if I let it just sit nothing happens (that is, nothing bad happens).
But if I start moving around PH explorer, I can't get through more than a few screens (accessing different macros, etc.) before it crashes.
I don't get any errors when it first starts, and until it crashes things seem to work - I can control devices, run macros, etc. But then *kablooie*.
I will start trying to figure out what's going on, but if anyone is inspired to tell me what magic pill to swallow, I'd be much obliged.

I run PH on I7-530 WIN7 64bit. A Toshiba laptop WIN7 32bit. And a HP Mini Win7. I find them to be normally stable. When I have a problem it is usually due to a Windows update. My Plugins sometimes fail and again it has been due to an update. I know you’ve been through this but again check your drivers. I doubt you are over clocking as I do so that should not be a problem. You might try PCPITSTOP for an overall test but I doubt you’ll find anything. Run PH in compatibly mode and as administrator helps also. You might check the Event log for a description of failures.

Good question. No, 2.1b. That's what I had been running and I've tried the basic "clean install then copy the .db and .ini files" method of migrating to the new computer.

The problem with 21b is the install defaults to Program Files. With WIN7 you don’t know where the DB is really hiding. You may find there are 2 copies. The easiest work around is to install it outside of Program Files as it is done in 214. With 64bit it would go to Prgm Files (x86) with 21b on Win7.
EDIT: One caveat is to make sure all paths in the INI are correct.

Everything got installed in Pgrm Files (x86)... I forget how I accomplished that, but I did. That's the only place the pwrhome.db file exists.
And compatibility mode didn't help - I can replicate this every time by simply clicking from one macro to the next, and usually on either the third or fourth it crashed (doesn't matter what I'm clicking - just clicking anywhere through PH explorer).
Also, no, I'm not overclocked. :)

Interesting, I flipped a few more 'compatibility mode' checkboxes, and this time when it crashed (literally the 4th macro I click on, every time, regardless of how quickly I move through it), this time I got an additional popup window entitled "DataWindow Error" with a message:
Line 4: Column 12: incorrect syntax.
The plot thickens.

My only suggestion would be to go to 214. The files hide in other places and you can’t find them. Dave is up to date on that one. He found with Vista and 7 installing outside fixed the problem otherwise you have to run comp and admin and that doesn’t always fix it. What you are seeing is something I worked with Dave years ago but that was fixed many releases ago. I don’t know what is upsetting your system so severely though.

I'm pretty sure that 2.1.2 is installed first as a normal install. 2.1.3 and 2.1.4 are Zip files that are unzipped into 2.1.2. The next full install may be 2.1.5.
I did the 2.1.2, 2.1.3, 2.1.4 so long ago that my memory may be faulty here. Pete, can you confirm the need to install 2.1.2 first.

You need to put the full install on first because the 213 and 214 only replace some files. There is an error on bring up after you do this pertaining to script server. If you have that error both Lee and I have threads that tell you what to register.

Livin' large and in charge!
Did a clean install of 212 and ran the db updater, then did a upgrade to 214 (skipped 213) and I am up and running and the crashing hasn't yet recurred.
No script errors yet. Woo-hoo!

I'm not sure 2.1.4 is all inclusive of 2.1.3 fixes. Skipping 2.1.3 may have missed some maintenance. Did all the files in the 2.1.3 Zip get replaced with files from the 2.1.4 Zip?

When Dave announced 2.1.4 in the long thread, he wrote "Unzip over version 2.1.2 or 2.1.3."
I realize he may have been speaking off-the-cuff, but that's why I chose to do it that way.
