Hi,

I have powerhome installed since 2 weeks and my home is almost all connected now!  Very cool!!!

My question is about detecting an incoming call to mute AV devices.  Is there a way in PH or windows xp to define a trigger when there is a call?

You would need a modem and an IR system set up on your PH machine to do this.

I have a call announcement system that I set up that works with a Caller ID modem. I wrote a program to watch for the modem to send info on a call, send that info to PH via Windows Messaging, then, PH speaks the caller info.

The latest version of PH supports COM port communication, so, a separate program is not necessary. You would only need to watch for the "RING" string that is sent by the modem.

X10 telephone transponders can make this happen also by sending X10 commands when the phone rings (if you have PH configured to receive X10 commands).  The transponders don't work well with most answering machines though.
