Hi once again,
I've recently upgraded my original install of 2.1b to the beta 2.1.4 version and everything is great but being new to PH formulas, etc. I was making use of the sample database in figuring out certain things and now the sample database appears to not work with the 2.1.4 beta. Is there another sample data base somewhere or a way to fix this? I tried using the upgrade utility on it but it wouldn't work and I haven't turned up anything on this searching the forum. I'm probably overlooking the obvious.....

I had the same problem and didn’t see a work around other than going to a back level install then moving it up. Maybe Dave has a quick solution.

Hi Pete,
I don't think I'm ready to try that cause I'm afraid of mucking something up. Like you say, maybe Dave has an answer.
Another thing I've noticed is that when I do a reinit, the controller comes up disconnected now with 2.1.4 so I'm guessing that may have changed for a reason. I don't think it's anything I've done but can't say for sure....

Usually when you do a reinit the controller will reload but I have notice in the case of my USB-UIRT it does not and requires a close then open of PH. That would indicate to me there may be a driver linkage problem. With the PLM there is no driver other than what is supplied by Microsoft. Whatever is the cause is not normal. I am assuming the PLM comes up under normal bring up right. When you start PH are there any msg indicating it is restarting the PLM?

Pete,
I left out something here, my 2413UH kept acting flaky with my X10 stuff so I've returned it and am waiting on a 2412U I got off ebay at a good price. Until then, I'm back using the old CM11A and that is where the reinit thing is happening. Interestingly, all I have to do is go under file and click "Disconnected" and everything works again. It's also fine on start/restart, only weird on reinit.

Yep, that sounds like a port issue from the old days. When you get your new one you should be good to go.

Derek,
Concerning the sample database, I probably neglected to update it in the beta. However, you should be able to use the database upgrade utility on the phsample.db database (just will have to manually select that file by browsing). If the upgrade util says that the db file is too old, then there is a zip file (phupg.zip) in the PowerHome directory containing all of the previous versions of the upgrade util. You may have to work your way up to the current version.
Concerning the controller not always starting up on a reinit, I'll look at the code and see if I can determine what may be wrong. Im suspecting that its a timing issue and the port is not getting fully closed before trying to reopen it so it errors out and thinks its already open. Just confirm for me that the controller you're having a problem with is the the CM11A and I'll look into it.
Dave.

Hi Dave,
Yes, it was a CM11A that I was having the problem with, however, I now have a new 2412U and all is working great!! I had originally bought the newer 2413UH from Smarthome but returned it because it could not see incomming X10 signals reliably and so had to go back to my CM11A for a while. The 2412U sees everything 100% of the time so far. There seems to be some buggy PLM's out there and lucky me ended up with one.
As to the database, I'll take a look at the other upgrade utilities tonight because when I tried before it did complain that the database was too old.
Thanks for the reply and for a GREAT program. I'm still learning but PowerHome gives me a level of control and flexiability beyond any other home automation package I've seen!!

Dave, while you’re at it can you look into the USB-UIRT having the same problem on a reinit.
