I am trying to learn the Bose wave radio codes into powerhome using the USB-UIRT. It learned the power, Channel up-and-down, and volume up-and-down OK but I cannot get it to learn the preset buttons and AM/FM button.
I went over to remote central and got a CCF file for the radio.
Will this file have the codes I need?
How do I read them?

Wayne,
Hmmmm...Im not sure why it would have trouble learning the AM/FM and preset buttons. I'll do some checking and see if I can find out anything.
In any event, yes...you can use the Pronto codes in CCF files. However, the CCF file itself is not usable without one of the CCF editor programs. There are a number of freeware ones available (you should be able to find them at remotecentral). The one I use is called ProntoEdit. A CCF file not only contains the actual IR code, but also includes display layouts, macros, etc. for the Pronto remote.
I went ahead and went to RemoteCentral and downloaded a Bose WaveRadio CCF file and used ProntoEdit to extract the codes for the AM/FM and six presets. They are posted below:

I've figured out how to generate Pronto hex data like this from my JP1 configurations. When I paste this type of data into the IR Outgoing Code fields it doesn't work. What steps am I missing?
Thanks,
Tony

It should work, but I recall another user having a similar problem. He needed to have a "#" sign at the end of the code.
Could you also post a sample of the pronto code so I can check it out here?
Dave.

A "#" at the end does not fix it.
Here is the Pronto code...
0000 006D 0022 0002 0157 00AC 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0689 0157 0056 0015 0E94

Tony,
I don't understand it...the code looks good and should work. The other thing you can try is adding a "<Pronto>" tag just prior to the code so that it looks like:
<Pronto>0000 006D 0022...
Be sure and remove the "#" sign because it really shouldnt be there but seemed to help one other person.
The USB-UIRT allows the sending of code in 3 different formats. Pronto, UIRTRAW, and UIRTSTRUCT. When you learn a code using the USB-UIRT, you'll see the appropriate tags added depending upon your learn setting. If no tags exist, then the code tries to determine the type of code automatically. For the Pronto format, the check is:
if left(s_code,7) = "0000 00" and mid(s_code,10,3) = " 00" and mid(s_code,15,3) = " 00" then...
Your code meets this criteria so Im not sure what it doesnt work. In any case, try the <Pronto> tag as that is the first check that is done.
Dave.

Just a little additional info...
You can record IR codes using the USB-UIRT using 1 of 3 formats. This is determined by the "SaveSignalType" setting in the pwrhome.ini file under the [USB-UIRT] section. The valid values are:
0 <UIRTRAW>
16 <Pronto>
512 <UIRTSTRUCT>
Hope this helps,
Dave.

Using <Pronto> or <PRONTO> gives a "malformed code" error.

Tony,
That is bizarre. Can you run a test for me? Edit your pwrhome.ini file and set the "SaveSignalType" to 16 (Pronto format), save, and restart PowerHome. Then use PowerHome to learn a signal from one of your remotes. Copy and paste the learned signal for me to see. Then, try to playback the learned signal and see if any errors occur.
Im going to have to do some serious work if the USB-UIRT cant even playback it's own learned signals .
Thanks,
Dave.

OK, here is the learned code...
<Pronto>0000 0067 0000 0010 0060 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 001B 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0388<Repeat>3
..and it works!
Hmm. I just pasted in the old code, added <Pronto> to the front, played it, and it did not error out. It didn't work either, but, that's another story!

Well, Im glad to hear that it's at least working the way I would expect it to.
Are you sure that the Pronto code that you are trying to use is good?
Another possibility may be that the code is not being repeated enough times. There is a default repeat setting in the pwrhome.ini file in the [USB-UIRT] setting. This default will be used if a "<Repeat>" tag is not found. You can try adding this to your code like in your sample above and try different values. Also, take a peek at this thread, http://www.powerhomeautomation.com/forum/display_topic_threads.asp?ForumID=1&TopicID=301&SearchPagePosition=1&search=pronto&searchMode=allwords&searchIn=Thread&forum=0&searchSort=dateDESC&ReturnPage=Search. It's talking about the RR3, but also has some general info on the Pronto format and how to modify the codes.
Let me know how it goes,
Dave.

I'm guessing that the Pronto code is wrong (I may be making some progress on the JP1 forum). I'll keep you posted.
Thanks,

Yup! I had my EFC's and OBC's crossed. I'll switch the INI file back to UIRTRAW and see what happens.
