Hey,
I purchased powerhome quite some time ago and am starting to get back into this scene again. I need some very unique capabilities though and I'm wondering if this software is capable of what I want to do. If it can, I may end up buying another license.
First and most importantly, can it program a module that doesn't require the computer to be on? I see a module on X10.com that doesn't require a computer to be on, but I can't find its number so I can't check.
Also, I see something in the software about analog and digital in, but no explanation of what they are exactly or how to use them. I need the software to be able to recognize basic contact input.
Temperature is one more thing that I don't see anywhere. Is there a way to make it so it can trigger a macro when it reaches a certain temperature?
I think there are a few more obstacles, but it's a start if it can do this.
Thanks!

I have integrated temperatures into powerhome together with TonyNo and Dave. It took a lot of work but we finally got it to work. Just search in this board for temperatures... With the formulas I made and perfected by Dave and TonyNo I am warned in certain cases, also I have integrated a firealarm into PH and when there is a firealarm, all temperatures are stored in an e-mail and can be sent to anywhere you like...

Well, welcome back then!

I assume you mean something like the CM11A. Not for now. You could use ActiveHome to load the program into the device, then use PH normally. Keep in mind that any program stored in the CM11A needs to be pretty simple (no conditional logic).

These are to support the Velleman K8000. See the site for more.

PowerHome does not support the downloading of code to any controllers. This would include X10's CM11A and CM15A controllers. Also, the CPU-XA/Ocelot and the SmartHome 1132CU PowerLinc USB are capable of running standalone.
While PowerHome does not support the downloading of code to these controllers, it will work with them as an X10 controller interface (except for the CM15A...controller support will be added in the future).
Very few 3rd party applications support downloading of code to controllers so they can run standalone. The ones that do support downloading cant add any additional flexibility or features beyond the software included with the controller and is mostly just a convenience so that a single program can be used.
Analog and digital input/output are supported for the CPU-XA/Ocelot and K8000 controllers. For temperature, you are typically looking for an analog input which could trigger a macro when a certain value is reached.
You could also look into something that Peter (krommetje)did where he constructed his own hardware using the PC's gameport (joystick) to monitor 4 temperature inputs. He was able to interface this hardware to PowerHome even though PowerHome does not include native support for this interface.
Hope this helps and don't hesitate to ask if you have other questions.
Dave.
