Came across this the other day and think I'll get one when available: Nokia 770

This would be a great little touchscreen tablet for control of PowerHome.

This device has been actively discussed around town.

Here is an excerpt from a thread where I asked how this would be "better" than a $300 PPC...

I was just saying that it *seemed* one can get more for the same money.

Hum... That's a good point. In addition the iPaq is at least somewhat Microsoft software compatible. If they would release a decent browser for these hand helds I think they could sell many more.

From what Ive seen, it looks like about $350. And you're right, Ive also thought about the value over a Pocket PC. Im hoping that the advantage would be the 800 x 480 res and hopefully the Opera browser will out of the box support CSS.

Have you heard when these will be available? I would like to look at one, but Im not sure where the market will be (certainly not at your local Cingular or T-Mobile dealer).

They should be out soon; they were targeted for third quarter of 2005 (one month left ).

Only through the Nokia web site, though. I wonder if they would have them in the Nokia booths in malls?

Well, I prefer my PocketPC because of the compat. with mickeysoft, of course the resolution is higher.... the PocketPC is widely used and therefore better supported. Does the Nokia uses the Sybian OS like it is used on the 9110 the 9300 and the 9500 series? If so... then the only thing you CAN do with it.... you fill in the rest.

According to the article, the OS is based on Debian Linux v2.6 and the Gnome UI.

that's better...! hopefully Nokia has learned that Sybian OS is not the best OS to have internet with... even though: I still prefer my PocketPC because of the better support and availability of add-ons and stuff...
