I have settled on Insteon. I had set up a few devices in my apartment for test purposes. I have now moved into a new home and am going to be installing a number of Insteon devices.

In order to re-initialize, from PH I performed a "Clear PLC Database" as well as a "Clear Powerhome Insteon Devices".

I have my RF links installed in close proximity to my compuer. The PLC appears to be communicating with a blinking LED. I go into autodiscover mode, but upon exiting and doing an F5, I don't see any additional devices.

Please advise on what I might be doing wrong.

TIA.

Mike

Mike,

Ok, if I understand everything correctly, you've done a clear PLC database (removes any learned ID's from the PLC) and done a clear PowerHome Insteon devices (deletes all Insteon devices from the PowerHome database). You've moved from your old apartment into a new home and are now trying to autodiscover your devices but nothing is being found.

Based upon the symptoms, it would appear to be either a communications problem or your PLC may be locked up or corrupted. The latter can be fixed by performing a factory reset on the PLC and then redownloading the core application. If it's a communication problem, your RFLincs may not be on opposite phases.

I would try resetting the PLC and relocating the RFLincs (at least one of them). Then if there is still problems, post or email me a copy of your SDM logs and I'll see if I can spot any problems.

Good Luck,

Dave.

Your assumptions are coreect. Reloaded core app and that seems to have me going. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks!

Up to seventeen devices. Things are going fairly smoothly.

One question: Most but not all of my devices are showing up in the "Device Status" screen. Any clues as to why some may not?

Thanks,

Mike

Mike,

Glad to hear that it's now working and was something simple.

If a device is not showing up in the "Device Status" screen, that means that it's "Device Type" (in the Insteon Units screen) is set to a type that is flagged as "Control Only". This keeps 3 way slave switches and devices such as ControLincs from showing up in the Device Status screen. Just go to the Insteon Units screen and dropdown the Device Type column and choose the type that does not include the word "Control" in the description (or change it to "Control" for the devices that you don't want to be in the DS screen).

HTH,

Dave.
