As a family of deaf individuals, we are interested in somehow being able to connect X10 modules to automation software which can alert us to an AOL IM or Windows Messenger call by executing a command to flash lights in various parts of the house. Is this possible with PowerHome? We could then start relying on the computer instead of the telephone to communicate with our friends and family.

Thanks in advance,

Kent

Kent,

Its quite possible...I dont use Instant Messenger or Windows Messenger so I dont know what indication they give that an incoming message is waiting. What kind of indication do they currently give? I'll do some research on the web and see if its something that I can hook into so that a trigger is fired. Assuming that PowerHome can know that a message is waiting, it could certainly handle the flashing lights or any other indicator.

If the messenger currently opens a window that a message is waiting, PowerHome could probably do what you want as is, but it would probably be cleaner if I can hook directly. I'll post back any info that I find.

Dave.
