Having been extremely satisfied with the ease of installation, and the practical and powerful results obtained by implementing a 1-Wire network, I have written a tutorial on the design, care, and feeding thereof.

The tutorial is available here . . .

1-Wire Tutorial Link

We now have sensors in all of or refridgerators and freezers as well as outside temp readings to help control home environmental conditions.

Before I did this, we had a freezer fail while we were on an extended vacation, and came home to what looked like a murder scene!

Blood all over the floor and a stench that lasted for weeks. We had to throw the freezer out along with a small fortune in spoiled meat and frozen food.

Now with the 1-wire sensing and periodic (Timed Event) checking of temps, I get email and SMS elerts on my iPhone if a temp gets outside of a specified range, so we can have someone check on things as approptiate.

We have been extremely pleased with the results of our 1-Wire system.

Also a note. A convenient way to get refrig/freezer temps is to use flat telephone cable available from many sources (Lowes carries it in short lengths). This can be routed into the cooler by taping it to the frame on the hinge side of the door without impacting the door gasket.

Hopefully the tutorial helps get you thinking about what you could do, and then doing it.

Good luck!

Glad to see that you kept some picture of the original document I wrote so long ago.

At least you could have said that it was based on my work, even if you did made changes.

Spou -

Had I not substantially rewritten the text and created new graphics I
would have certainly credited your original work.

I am grateful for your original work, as it showed me it could be done.

After I spent weeks creating my system and many days documenting
it, I felt I had an original document to post, so I did so.

But that said, "yes" absolutely you deserve credit for your ground
breaking efforts. I could not have done what I did without your initial
work. In retrospect I should have at least credited you for your
inpirational efforts.

My bad.
