I have a 6 button KPL which has two different lights linked such that if I turn out the KPL light (button 1) the light controlled by button-3 is also turned off.

To keep the button lites synchronized, I would like to have button-3 on the KLP turn off along with its linked light, when I press button-1.

I have been doing it by Triggering off a change in the light linked to button-3 and sending a group cleanup to turn off button-3 on the KPL.

Code:
ph_insteongroupcu("KPL-B3","OUT SHOP KPL",20)

This KPL is the farthest switch on my network, being located in a barn several hundred feet from the house, so comm back and forth between PH and the KPL is sometime sluggish.

I would rather do it using PLC/PLM Groups as I do to control other KPL keys to have them synchronize with linked switches.

I am unable, however, to make PH set up the needed link to make button-1 also control the backlight illuminating button-3 on the same KPL. When I attempt to create such a link (see example table entry below), the Link Status in the Links Window never changes from "FLAGGED CREATE".   Attempting to SAVE does nothing and doesn't even put an operation in the Pending Operations queue.

The Link Table entry looks like (ignore the ... in the lines as it is not possible to put multiple spaces without them getting converted into funky characters by the forum) where the ID of this KPL is "SHOP KPL" (ie, the link is referencing the KPL itself) . . .

Group...ID..........Description...Button...D Level...D Ramp...A Level...A Ramp...Ctlr Sort...Ctlr Link
   1.....SHOP KPL..Shop KPL.........3...........0...........31...........255........ .0.........................FLAGGED CREATE

Is it just not possible for PH to create a Controller Link back to itself? This works fine when the "controlled" KPL is a different one.

I'm no expert, but I've got that same setup in several
places. I think what you need is to use the Button setup
in KPL Config. You can link the light directly (as I'm
sure you already have) and then use the "LED Off" on button
one and check the box for "3". Then, once it's setup PH is
out of the loop and it's all Insteon. That probably makes
it much faster too.

Thanks for the response. I should have gone back in and
updated my original post.

The problem I was having was that my SHOP KPL was dying.
Once I replaced it I was able to successfully enter the
links in the Responders panel for the KPL itself. There
for the Group 1 button (the KPL's light control button) I
entered SHOP KPL's ID and in the Button column for
button-3 I put a "0" for the D Level.,

This then turns (immediately as you suggest)off the LED
behind button-3 (the lights controlled by button-3 are
already in this group 1 and have always been turned off
when I press button-1 . . . I just was having trouble
getting the LED behind button-3 to turn off also when
it's lights were).
