Has anyone had any success using Triggers with Insteon devices and the latest beta? I've tried everything I can think of. It works well with X-10 but I haven't gotten any type of trigger to work with Insteon yet.
If you have gotten triggers to work with Insteon perhaps you can leave the details.
Thanks.

I went ahead and just double checked the "Insteon Group In" trigger using button 3 on my KPL and it worked just fine.
When you control the device you want to trigger off of, do you get an event in the PowerHome eventlog? When testing the above, I got:
Incoming Insteon received on Insteon DM controller INSTEON. From Address:[01.3A.A4] To Address:[00.00.03] Flags:[207] Cmd1:[17] Cmd2:[0]. Decode: Group Broadcast. From: MASTER Group: 3, On
You should see something similar.
Let me know and we'll take it one step at a time. The first thing we need to see is PowerHome receiving the actual Insteon message.
Dave.

Dave, the event appears in the event log as follows:
Incoming Insteon received on Insteon DM controller SHPLC2414. From Address:[00.26.9A] To Address:[00.CF.1E] Flags:[74] Cmd1:[17] Cmd2:[1]. Decode: Group Cleanup. From: COMPUTER LIGHT To: POWERLINC1 Group: 1, On
I note my event appears as GROUP CLEANUP - is that significant? It a simple on or off from a switchlinc received by the PLC. The same switchlinc is linked to a lamplinc, so when pressed both lights turn on and off. I don't see the activity to the second light reported in the event log (altho the 2nd light does turn on and off when the switchlinc is pushed).
In addition I'm beginning to see a lot of random events in the event log listed as "unmapped activity" when I know there should be no activity (such as the middle of the night). For example,
Incoming Insteon received on Insteon DM controller SHPLC2414. From Address:[00.26.8D] To Address:[00.CF.1E] Flags:[47] Cmd1:[6] Cmd2:[0]. Decode: Direct ACK. From: MASTERBEDROOM To: POWERLINC1, Unmapped Command
Could my PLC be corrupted?
The Trigger I'm trying to execute is just a simple test as follows:
Macro
Announce Hour
Queued
Active
Insteon Group In
COMPUTER LIGHT
1
ON
1
I've tried this with all different parameters and it didn't work. I haven't tried it with the KPL yet. I'll do that now and let you know if it works.

Mystery partially solved.
I tried the same trigger with the KPL, icon and other switchlincs and the trigger worked with all of them! The only difference that I can tell is in the event log. It logs the event not with the PLC (to which they are all linked) but to another device (all different doesn't appear to matter which device). Maybe I should factory reset the switchlinc that doesn't work or rebuild the links? Or maybe its a bad switchlinc?

Problem solved.
I reset the switchlinc to factory defaults. Renamed it. Rediscovered it. Reverified it and the Trigger now works as it should. So, I guess it boiled down to a switchlinc problem.
What I'm trying to do is setup a macro, trigger, flag so that the first time certain switches are manually turned on in the morning the time and weather are announced. I'm almost there!

Glad that it's finally fixed. After checking your eventlog entry, you may not have had to go through all that trouble though.
The log entry you were receiving was the group cleanup message. When you locally control an Insteon device (and if it is linked as a controller to another Insteon device) it will generate a group broadcast message. This is the message that PowerHome triggers on. After the group broadcast message is sent, the device then follows with a direct group cleanup message to every device within it's group.
What Im thinking, is that the PLC did not have the SwitchLinc's ID in it's database. This may have been causing the PLC to not see the group broadcast message and thus would not have sent it to PowerHome. If this is what was wrong, it could have been fixed by opening the Insteon DM Control screen (right-click in Insteon Devices) and selecting first "Clear PLC Database" followed by "Add ID's to PLC". This would have cleared any ID's in the PLC and then resent everything in your PowerHome device database to the PLC.
If this should happen again, lets give that a try and see if that takes care of it.
Keep us posted on your progress .
Dave.

I had the same issue with a trigger not responding to a controlinc button press. I followed your directions and did a Clear PLC Database followed by an Add ID's to PLC and that fixed the problem. Your original email info will go into my tips and tricks info. Why do you think these device ID's weren't in the PLC even though the controller report indicates they were linked. By the way the 2 devices that weren't in the PLC database originally were the first devices installed and are my 'oldest' insteon devices.

It's hard to say why they would have gotten cleared from the controller. Ive just found that sometimes it happens so I provided the two buttons to quickly clean and fix it. There are so many new variables to Insteon, things can get messed up in many different places.
It's good to know that fixes it however so you didnt have to go through the factory reset and rediscover and all.
One thing to keep in mind, when you autodiscover a device, it automatically gets added to the PLC database. If you manually enter a device into the PowerHome database, it DOES NOT get automatically added. In this situation, just follow the above steps where you clear the PLC database and then add the ID's.
Hope this helps,
Dave.
