I've looked for something on this, but haven't seen it so I apologize upfront if it has already been covered.
I, like all of us probably, have various groups of lights defined via powerhome on my PLC. (using insteon) I have one which contains all my lights so I can have them all turn off at a certain time so we don't accidentally leave something on all night long, etc. (I don't use the default 254 group because I want ceiling fans, etc to stay on). This group works fine for turning off the lights. However, even though I also have the specific buttons on the keypads that are linked to the various lights in the group, when I send an OFF command to this group, only the switches go to the off position, the secondary keypad buttons still show an on status (if they were previously on). The opposite DOES work. In other words, a group which includes the keypad buttons is sent an ON command, they change.
Is there something I'm missing here? The buttons respond normally when their associated lights are manually turned off, or if via powerhome I individually turn off the button via a macro or formula. It seems to be only when they are part of the group that they ignore the off command.
Thanks folks!

Cicero,
I had to read your post a couple of times and think I understand the problem, but don't understand why this would happen.
You've got a PLC group with all of your lights defined (as well as KPL secondary buttons that control lights). You dont use the global group 255 because you only want to control lights and not items such as ceiling fans (good point).
You send a PLC off command to this group and all the lights respond appropriately but the KPL buttons do not. If you send an ON command, then all works as it's supposed to.
The only thing that I can think of is that the buttons are configured to be non-toggle ON only buttons, your KPL's are defective, or this is the behaviour and Ive just never noticed it. Is there a difference between sending an OFF command and a FASTOFF command?
I'll setup a test here and let you know my results.
Dave.

I have almost the same setup (just set it up 2 nights ago) and it seems to be working without any problems. I have a non-toggle OFF KPL button 'Goodnight'. Linked to that are all of my lights, but no ceiling fans, etc. Also linked to that are the individual other KPL buttons that control those lights. Pushing the goodnight button shuts off all of the lights, and the proper KPL button lights.

Thanks for the input. The buttons are not in non-toggle mode. They work normally (press when it's off, lights come on, keypad button comes on, press when it's on, lights go off, keypad button goes off). I'll experiment some more to make sure that group on to a group including a button turns the keypad button on but group off does not turn off the button light.
As to fastoff vs off, no difference as far as the keypad button goes.
-------------
Update (I know, I just posted this)
I have an x10 trigger to a group including a keypad button that works just fine. the trigger executes a formula. The timed "lights out" called a macro. I have changed it to a formula now to see if that makes a difference. I'll update in the morning.

as I suspected, formula vs macro makes no difference. I did see your post, dave, in the general forum about the ORDER in which links are made to the keypads. This seems to be the issue. I removed all keypad links in my "all lights off" group then added them back, secondary buttons first, waiting until those were verified, then added the loads. Works fine now.
Thanks for the great product and the great personal support! It's not often the actual developer that provides the customer support.

Cicero,
Glad to see that at least one of my posts helped . I remember when I posted that message (after I had already posted to this thread) that it may also apply to you and was going to post but forgot. Glad to see that you found it anyways and were able to solve the problem.
Definately a step backwards in the newer KPL firmware.
Dave.

Maybe a step back, but at least it's only "per group" or so it seems because I had some that worked and some that didn't. some I just happened to do the load last.
