Hi,
I am curious what kind of response time people are experiencing with the Elk and powerhome in regards to zone switch closures etc. I am thinking about using wired motion detectors to control individual room lighting via the elk powerhome interface.

I currently use one of my wired motion dectectors for dual purpose. It is wired to the Elk to alarm if intrusion but it also signals when someone is walking down the hall to turn on the lights if after dark. The first time I walked down the hall at 2am I was a bit stunned at the bright light automatically coming on... so I fixed it so that it would only come one 25% after midnight. Works great. The delay in time is usually only about a second (sometimes two). The biggest problem I have been having is Power Home stops receiving the logs from the ELK. It still shows as being connected but logs are not being recieved. This was happening everyday. I resolved it but having Power Home reinitialize twice a day. However, there are better ways to monitor the connection and reinitialize when the connection is lost... but haven't had the time to do that yet and Dave said he may build that in the next version so I am holding out a little.

My response is probably under a second. I've had no
connectivity problems using the M1XSP and PH2. I have
no experience with ethernet connectivity.

With the newest version of PH... I have had absolutely know connectivity problems with the ELK. Dave built in some code to monitor the connection and reconnect if it sees a problem. It works great.
