Hello everyone,

I have spent the past couple of months researching home automation for an ongoing project I want to have a crack at in my new house.

The Elk product looks like the exact product I want, what with the security function, the network and telephony functions, the standard alarm equipment conectivity and the X10 compatability. And mostly the compatability of the most flexible software for nearly all eventuality.

But the only downer is that it is being here in the UK where we have 3 pin 230V plugs and this is designed to work on 110V 2 pin plugs.

So the questions I have are........

Is the elk low voltage power supply built onto the Elk M1 G pcb or is it seperate?

If I purchase something like this PCS05 (X10-Pro)

To plug into the ELK M1G

Could I then plug it into a step down transformer like this

some more information on amazon
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Stepdown-240-120v-Transformer-100VA/ dp/B000NIYF0K/ref=pd_bxgy_ce_img_c

and then into the mains. Would it work..... Or am I just dreaming. I shouldnt imagine there was much to the transfomer. But not sure if anyone has tried this out.

Hope someone could shed some light on the subject, or give me some advice on what I could use instead.

Thanks in advance.

Rob.

Welcome!

Check with X10 Europe.

There are also modified UPB modules available from Automated Outlet.
